The 7th & 8th grade boys basketball teams will take on Zionsville West Middle School on Wednesday, December 21st in the Battle for the Nest. This big event will allow one school to hold the coveted Nest trophy while also helping support ZMS student, Logan McGovern, who is battling cancer. The Student Athletic Leaders at both ZMS and ZWMS will be selling raffle tickets during lunch on December 19, 20 & 21 and throughout the A game that night for the Free Throw for Free Chicken Competiton. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards the Kidz4Kidz fund benefitting Logan. Tickets are 1 for $1 or 5 for $3. Five tickets will be drawn after the 8th grade A game for a chance to shoot a free throw. Individuals who make their free throw will win Chick-fil-A for a year! Come out and support your team in the Battle for the Nest while supporting Logan!
Congratulations to Mrs. Plantan’s PRT class! They were the overall winners in our Change for Children change drive last week. In total the students of ZMS raised over $4200 which will be used to help brighten the holidays for local families in need.
The ZCHS Student Council is sponsoring a Babysitting Night on Friday, December 2nd from 6-9pm at Zionsville Community High School. Cost is $15 per child for ages 2 through 10. It’s a perfect time to enjoy the Holiday Music Concert or attend the varsity basketball game at the high school, go out to eat or go holiday shopping while the kids have fun with snack, games and crafts. Registration and drop-off/pick-up will be at Door 41 on the south side of the high school building.
As a music fundraiser ZMS Bands have been selling Otis Spunkmeyer cookies once a month on Fridays during lunch. The cookies are chocolate chip only and sell for 2 for $1. Many students and staff purchase these cookies but many times children forget their dollar. To help solve this problem and to make it easier we will begin using “Cookie Cards”.
Cards may be purchased for $10 each. Parents must print, fill out and sign the form found here and return it along with $10 payment to school. Checks should be made out to ZMS Band. Students may also bring the completed form with cash or check payment to the next cookie sale on Nov. 18th during lunch. Cards may be purchased at any time throughout the year. Once a cookie card form is turned in it will be kept so we will have it at each cookie sale. No child will have to worry about losing it! No refunds will be given at the end of the school year. Any unused “dollars” will be donated to the Band.

The American country rock bands, Pure Prairie League and Firefall, will headline the Zionsville Band and Orchestra Patrons’ Annual Gala and Silent Auction on Saturday evening, November 5, 2011, 7:00 pm at the Zionsville Performing Arts Center in Zionsville, Indiana.
Since the 1970’s the Pure Prairie League has recorded numerous country rock hits such as the familiar “Amie,” “Two Lane Highway,” and “Let Me Love You Tonight,” which was number 10 on the Billboard singles charts in 1980. Pure Prairie League toured nationally with Little Feat and the JD Blackfoot bands. Their first album featured the iconic image a Norman Rockwell drawing of an old cowboy named Luke who had originally appeared in the Saturday Evening Post magazine.
Country rock band, Firefall was formed in Boulder, Colorado in 1974 by Rick Roberts formerly of the Flying Burrito Brothers. Their biggest hit single was “You Are the Woman” which peaked at number 9 on the Billboard charts in 1976. Other hits include “Just Remember I Love You” and “Strange Way” and “Cinderella.”
Tickets may be purchased online at the http://zboponline.tix.com and or by phone at 317-873-3355 ext 12940 (September 1st through November 4th). They may also be purchased in person at the ZPAC box office located at 1000 Mulberry Street in Zionsville. Tickets prices are $50 (Patron), $35 (Select), $30 (General) and $20 (Senior and Student.) All proceeds benefit the Zionsville Community High School Music Department. Doors open and silent auction begins at 5:30 pm.

The St.Vincent Foundation and the Women of Hope are pleased to announce the Walk of Hope on Saturday, October 1 at Coxhall Gardens. This event is open to the community and provides a way for individuals and families to join in the fight against cancer. All proceeds from the event will benefit new survivor programs that positively impact cancer patients and families in our own community.
Registration is now open for the 1 and 3 Mile Walks. The Village of Hope Community Fair, open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., is free and features activities for kids including Kids BMV, free health screenings, fun entertainment, shopping, food and more!
Volunteers are needed to assist with the event including working in the children’s area, directing traffic, registration, staffing a pit stop and many other opportunities.

The 1st Annual Zionsville Hall of Fame Classic Golf “Shamble” will take place on Friday, June 24 at the Golf Club of Indiana. The cost is $125 per adult and $95 per student for 18 holes of golf with cart, box lunch, dinner and gifts. All proceeds will benefit the Zionsville Schools Golf Programs.
