Band Cookie Cards

November 11th, 2011 · No Comments · 5th Grade, 6th Grade, 7th Grade, 8th Grade, Band, Fundraisers

As a music fundraiser ZMS Bands have been selling Otis Spunkmeyer cookies once a month on Fridays during lunch.  The cookies are chocolate chip only and sell for 2 for $1.  Many students and staff purchase these cookies but many times children forget their dollar.  To help solve this problem and to make it easier  we will begin using “Cookie Cards”.

Cards may be purchased for $10 each.  Parents must print, fill out and sign the form found here and return it along with $10 payment to school.  Checks should be made out to ZMS Band.  Students may also bring the completed form with cash or check payment to the next cookie sale on Nov. 18th during lunch.  Cards may be purchased at any time throughout the year.  Once a cookie card form is turned in it will be kept so we will have it at each cookie sale.  No child will have to worry about losing it!  No refunds will be given at the end of the school year.  Any unused “dollars” will be donated to the Band.

Thank you for supporting the ZMS Bands!

camera_clip_art__1Dear ZMS Parents, Students, and Staff,

Get your pictures in the yearbook! The Yearbook Staff invites students and parents to submit photos for the yearbook. If you’ve got great photos of school activities and/or athletic events, we’d like to see them. Afterall, our yearbook club photographers can’t be everywhere all the time!  Help us get as many photos as possible to create a terrific book everyone will want to have. We don’t need ALL of your photos, just your best ones from that event!

Here is how you can submit photos online:
   • Go to: http://www.replayit.com/r/

   • Go to the top, right corner, and click “Find your school to register”

   • Create a login and write down the email address and password and keep in a safe place. You may wish to use your student email adress (first-last@stumail.zcs.k12.in.us)

-NOTE: our school passcode is: zmsyearbook12

   • After you have verified your email address, you may start uploading!

   • I find it easier to upload one at a time. Please be sure to “tag” the photo with important information like student name, activity, etc.

It’s that easy! Submit your photos today! The last day to submit photos is 3/1/2012.

Thank you, and enjoy the rest of the school year!

Sincerely,
ZMS Yearbook Advisers, Mrs. Goodman and Mrs. Weirich

Cedar Point Choir Trip

May 25th, 2011 · No Comments · Band, Choir, Music

The Swing Choir performed excellently during the Cedar Point Competition of “Music in the Parks.” The songs that they sang were “The Fool on the Hill, and “Over the Rainbow.” “Over the Rainbow” featured an outstanding soloist: Caitlin P. As she sang, her voice was beautiful enough to make some members of the audience begin to cry. In “The Fool on the Hill” the choir performed nearly perfectly except for a short part where the parts gravitated towards each other. The choir received a superior rating overall, and won in their category of the Jazz Swing Choir.

They practiced on the bus ride up and by the time they had gotten to Fort Wayne the songs were concert worthy. One of the songs that they chose at the last minute was, “Rhapsody in Rhythm.” They performed well with the conducting of the new president of IMEA. Jazz Band and Swing Choir Concert

January 25th, 2011 · No Comments · Band, Choir, Clubs, Events, Music

plaque
On Friday, January 14, the Jazz Bands and the Swing Choir performed in Eagle Hall. There was a full house and the choir and both bands performed outstandingly and all of the groups were a big hit! The Jazz Bands played three songs and had wonderful and entertaining solos. The Swing Choir played 3 great songs that were really challenging. In “Johnny One Note” there was a syncopation. “Can’t Take that Away from Me” and “You’re the Top” are both love songs from the Great American Songbook. At the concert Mrs. Palmer dedicated “Can’t Take that Away from Me” to her husband. The whole night was a great success. The Grand Traverse Pie Company sold pies and all of the slices were sold out. The concert raised over $1,500 dollars and will go towards the Cedar Point trip. Overall, the concert was a complete success and all of the performers certainly went home feeling great!
